Pun Chanachai Named WAC Women's Golfer Of The Month

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Pun Chanachai was named Western Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for October. The freshman led the Aggies through two events this past month with a pair of top-30 showings.

Chanachai, a freshman from Bangkok, Thailand posted the top scoring average in the WAC by over a stroke, finishing the month averaging 72.40 per round. At the NM State Aggie Invitational, Chanachai shot 71-74-75—220 (+4) to finish in a tie for 2nd among 59 golfers as the Aggies captured the team title.

Play at the Aggie Invitational was followed up with a 72-70—142 (-2) at the weather-shortened Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, tying for 28th among 105 golfers.

Throughout the NM State Aggie Invitational and Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, Chanachai shot 56 holes for par and 16 birdies after five rounds of play.

Chanachai and the Aggies will take a break before the spring season commences at the Peg Bernard Invitational in Stanford, Calif, Feb. 11-12.
