LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The schedule for New Mexico State football in 2018 continues to fill itself out with the announcement of a home-and-home series with Louisiana Wednesday afternoon.

The Aggies will first travel to Lafayette, La., on Sept. 8, 2018 or Oct. 6 before the Ragin’ Cajuns make the return trip the following year to Aggie Memorial Stadium on Nov. 16, 2019.

NM State trails the all-time series 6-5 now after capturing its second-consecutive win over Louisiana at home this season, 37-31. The Aggies are 2-5 all-time at Cajun Field and 3-1 when playing at Aggie Memorial Stadium.

“We are very pleased to announce our agreement with Louisiana,” Athletics Director Mario Moccia said. “As we have said, securing games with Group of 5 opponents is critical for an opportunity for future success. We would like to thank former Louisiana AD Scott Farmer and head coach Mark Hudspeth for agreeing to this series and congratulate the Ragin’ Cajuns on their R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl appearance. Thanks again to Dave Brown, President of Gridiron and the former ESPN College Football VP for Programing for his hard work on behalf of New Mexico State Athletics. We continue to diligently work on finalizing our future football schedule and anticipate more announcements in the near future. This remains a task that we focus on each and every day.”

With Wednesday’s announcement, NM State now has three games officially set for its first season as an independent in 2018. The Aggies agreed to a home-and-home with Wyoming earlier this week and will also be traveling to Minnesota in 2018 as part of a two-game guarantee set. Contests against New Mexico and UTEP are also being finalized.

Game times and TV details for both games will be finalized at a later date.
