NMSU Softball Falls To Oklahoma State 7-4

CATHEDRAL CITY, CA - The New Mexico State softball team dropped their seventh-straight game on Saturday as the Aggies fell to Oklahoma State 7-4.

NM State got on the board first in the second inning. With Destiny Blueford and Fahren Glackin on base, Victoria Castro hit into a fielder's choice, driving in Blueford for the first run of the game.

The Cowgirls came back in the third inning to take the 3-1 lead.

The Aggies battled back in the bottom of the third. With Amy Bergeson reaching on a walk, Kelsey Horton hit a single to put runners on first and third. An infield fly by Merina Ili advanced the both runners into scoring position. OSU threw a wild pitch to bring in Bergeson to cut Oklahoma State's lead in half.

NM State ran into trouble again in the fifth as OSU drove in a run to give the Cowgirls the 4-2 lead.

The Aggies tied the game in the bottom of the sixth. With a runner on, Kennedy Johnson sent a long ball out to left field for her first homerun of the season. The two-run homer tied the game 4-4 as the Aggies took the field in the seventh.

The top of the seventh was trouble for the Aggies as the Cowgirls scored three runs to take the lead once more. New Mexico State was unable to overcome the deficit and fell 7-4.

NM State falls to 4-8 with Samaria Diaz earning her fourth loss in the circle. Oklahoma State moves to 8-7.

New Mexico State softball closes its run at the Mary Nutter Classic on Sunday at as the Aggies take on San Diego State at 10 a.m.
