DENVER, CO – New Mexico State’s Nikki Butler and Kayla Green have been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for March 27-April 1.

This is the third Hitter of the Week honor for NM State and the first honor for Butler. Green earns New Mexico State's first Pitcher of the Week honor this season.

“Nikki [Butler] and Kayla [Green] both performed well last week and were key to our success,” head coach Kathy Rodolph said. “Both were clutch for us in big moments. It’s always great to be recognized for a job well done.”

She followed the performance by hitting a 3-for-4 and driving in three runs in the Aggies’ WAC opener against Utah Valley.

Green went 3-0 in three starts and picked up a save this past week. She posted a 1.97 ERA over 21.1 innings of work. She struck out a WAC-best 10 batters while only walking six. In the Aggies 8-4 win at UTEP, Green threw 6.1 innings and allowed just two earned runs. In NM State’s 8-5 win over UVU, she pitched a complete-game, allowing three runs on eight hits. Green picked up her second save of the season as she threw a hitless inning in the Aggies’ 4-3 victory over Utah Valley. She finished the weekend series by pitching a complete game in NM State’s 7-3 win. She gave up just one earned run on six hits and tied her season high of five strikeouts.
