Kaur Named WAC Women's Tennis Player Of The Year

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The 2017 All-WAC women's tennis teams have been named, following a vote of the WAC’s six head coaches. NM State’s Rimpledeep Kaur headlines the awards, earning WAC Player of the Year honors, while UMKC’s Yana Grechkina was named WAC Freshman of the Year and Grand Canyon’s Greg Prudhomme earned WAC Coach of the Year honors.

Kaur was the pick for WAC Player of the Year after going 5-0 at No. 1 singles in WAC play. She also went 5-0 at Nos. 2 and 1 doubles in WAC play with partner Marie-Pier Thiffault. She was named WAC Player of the Month in November and was named WAC Player of the Week three times this season.

Grechkina earned WAC Freshman of the Year honors after going 5-0 at No. 4 singles in WAC matches. She also went 4-1 in WAC play at No. 1 doubles with partner Melinda Johnson. She was named WAC Player of the Week on April 18.

Prudhomme earns WAC Coach of the Year for the third straight season after leading the Lopes to the WAC regular-season title with a perfect 5-0 mark. It was the team’s second title in three seasons.
