NMSU Women's Basketball Adds Mills Twins To 2017-18 Roster

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State head women's basketball coach Brooke Atkinson bolstered her roster for the 2017-18 season with the addition of Dominique and Monique Mills. The twin sisters are each listed at five feet, 10 inches tall and hail from Salt Lake City, Utah.

"We are excited to have Monique and Dominique join the Aggie family,” said Atkinson. “Their accomplishments at the high school and junior college levels show they have been around winning programs. They will both bring length and athleticism to the guard position and help us on both ends of the floor."

Dominique and Monique Mills transfer in after leading 2016-17 Trinity Valley team to its 10th straight national tournament this past season. While with the Lady Cards, the team finished the season at 30-6 overall and 16-3 in conference play. The successful season also saw the Mills sisters help Trinity Valley capture the Region XIV title.

Prior to their time with the Lady Cards, the pair played for Salt Lake Community College in 2015-16. While with the Bruins, the team went 31-3 on the year, including 14-1 in conference play. The Mills’ led Salt Lake CC to a first-place finish in the Scenic West Athletic Conference and helped the team advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament.

While at Juan Diego Catholic High School, the sisters compiled an 80-11 record over four years of varsity basketball. This included leading the team to an undefeated, 25-0, finish their senior year in which the Soaring Eagles won their first 3A State Championship in program history.

At the end of the 2014-15 season, Monique Mills was named Desert News 3A Most Valuable Player and Salt Lake Tribune 3A Player of the Year and Dominique Mills was named to the 3A First-Team. The Mills sisters also earned varsity letters in track and volleyball each year from 2012-15.
