NEW ORLEANS, LA - New Mexico State Football's Larry Rose III, Payton Theisler and Jaden Wright were named to the Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference Teams on Friday in anticipation of media day next week.

"We are expecting great things from these young men and also think several others will make a name for themselves," Aggie head football coach Doug Martin said. "This is proof again of how well our staff has recruited and how far the program has come."

This is the second-straight year Rose III has been named preseason all-conference first-team.
Theisler earned preseason first-team honors for special teams while Wright was named a preseason all-conference second-team honoree on defense. It was the first time for both Theisler and Wright.

Rose III, the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year and AP All-American, looks to make a full return this season after missing the first three games of last season due to a sports hernia injury. Despite missing those first three games, the Fairfield, Texas, product still led the team in rushing with 865 net yards and also tied for a team-high four touchdowns. He was also one of two Aggies to record 50-plus yard rush last season.

Theisler earned his first preseason all-conference nod after seeing action in all 12 games as a freshman last season. His 70 punts was second-most in the league while his 41.8 yards per punt was forth in the SBC. Theisler's longest punt last year came at a whopping 67-yards while he pinned the opponents inside the 20-yard line 21 separate times. He also finished his first campaign in the Crimson & White with 31 punts of 50-plus yards.

Wright is one of 10 returners on defense for the Aggies and started in 11-of-12 games last year. The Lewisville, Texas, product is one of four returning players to have recorded 80-plus tackles last season. He registered a season-high 10 tackles at home against Appalachian State and led the team with four forced fumbles. He also had a pick six that he returned for 45-yards against Louisiana at home.

Appalachian State's Jalin Moore was named the Sun Belt Preseason Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league last season in rushing. Ja'Von Rolland-Jones was selected the Sun Belt Preseason Defensive Player of the Year behind a 2016 season that saw him lead the SBC in sacks and tackles for loss.

New Mexico State opens the 2017 campaign on the road with an 8:30 p.m. (MT) kickoff against Arizona State (Aug. 31) on the Pac-12 Networks. Be sure to catch the Aggies in their home-opener and SBC-opener against Troy on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. Single-game tickets and season-tickets for Aggie football can be purchased at the Pan American ticket office or by phone at 575-646-1420.
