Kelsey Horton Named WAC Softball Hitter Of The Week

DENVER, CO - NM State’s Kelsey Horton has been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week for April 2-8. This is the first honor of the season and fifth of her career for Horton.

Horton, a junior second baseman from San Clemente, Calif., hit .750 with one double, four home runs, seven runs scored and eight RBIs over four games played last week. She posted an astonishing 2.375 slugging percentage as she had an extra base hit in all four games and multiple RBIs in each game. Horton also had an .846 on-base percentage as she also walked three times on the week. She began the week with a solo homer against rival New Mexico. In the series opener against CSU Bakersfield, Horton began with a timely two-run home run that tied the game in the first inning. In the second game of the series, the junior hit a pair of homers in her two at-bats. Horton closed out the series with an RBI double. She entered the week ranked 12th nationally with 12 home runs on the season.
