DENVER, CO - NM State’s Nick Gonzales has been named Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week for Feb. 11 – Feb. 17.

Gonzales, a sophomore infielder from Vail, Ariz. (Cienega HS), was in midseason form on opening weekend, going 16-of-22 from the plate with four home runs and 16 RBIs in an Aggie sweep of defending SWAC champion Texas Southern. The 2018 WAC Freshman of the Year had a perfect 5-for-5 night on Friday, driving in six RBIs with a pair of home runs in a 20-2 win. On Saturday, he went 8-for-12 with seven runs scored and five RBIs in a doubleheader sweep that saw NM State outscore TSU, 62-14. He followed that up with a 3-for-5 day on Sunday, driving in five RBIs in a seven-inning 16-3 win to clinch the sweep.
