- New Mexico State women’s tennis sophomore Harsha Challa was named the Western Athletic Conference Singles Player of the Week after going 2-0 this past weekend.

This is the first singles player of the week honor for Challa and the first singles honor for NM State in dual play.

Challa first took down Montana State’s Linnea Fristam at the No. 3 singles position 6-2, 6-4 before taking down Maria Oreshkina from Wyoming 7-5, 6-3 – for NM State’s lone point against the Cowgirls. The two wins pushed her streak to six-straight victories with two unfinished matches in between.

The Aggies will get a couple weeks off before making their way to the Valley of the Sun where it’ll play in the first WAC pod to open Western Athletic Conference action. NM State will play three matches in as many days. First up will be Kansas City (March 22) followed by UT Rio Grande Valley (March 23) and host Grand Canyon (March 24).
