NMSU Women's Golf Claims WAC Title; Galloway Wins Individual Title

LAKEWOOD, WA - The New Mexico State women’s golf team captured its fifth Western Athletic Conference Championship in six years, taking down Seattle U in a playoff after both squads finished with a +33 after three rounds.

The Aggies entered Saturday’s action trailing Seattle U by one stroke. However, NM State caught the Redhawks to tie it after 36 holes before winning in a playoff. This was New Mexico State’s ninth WAC championship overall, a conference best.

Dominique Galloway won the individual championship after posting a 69-73-72—214 (+1) over three rounds at the WAC Championship. The senior from Rio Rancho, N.M., is the fourth Aggie in the last five years to claim the individual title and the eighth individual champion for NM State overall.

Pun Chanachai finished in ninth place after firing a 71-76-74—221 (+8) and was followed closely by Chantal Dueringer (+10) in 11th. Maria Prado (+17) placed in a 24-place tie while Angela Xu (+21) finished tied for 31st.

New Mexico State now awaits its destination for the NCAA Golf Regional. The Aggies are set to find out where they play during the NCAA Selection Show on Wednesday, April 24, 5:30 p.m. (MT) on the Golf Channel.
