BOISE, ID - The New Mexico State women's soccer team fell 4-0 on the road to Boise State on Friday night at the Boas Soccer Complex.

Dmitri Fong was tested in net early, but the redshirt junior responded with saves in the 9th, 22nd and 24th minutes. Fong continued to play well as the half went on, making two more saves in the 24th and 29th minutes.

Then, Alexa Barrera forced the Bronco backline into a turnover in the 35th minute but her shot was deflected by a Boise State defender before being stopped by Sydney Smith. The Aggies had another golden opportunity in the 44th minute when Kyleigh Cox broke away from the Broncos defense. However, Smith was there to make a diving save and keep the game scoreless heading into the half. Fong recorded five saves in the half.

The second half started as a defensive battle with neither side registering a shot on a goal until a save from Fong in the 63rd minute. Barrera then had a chance in the 68th minute when she was able to rip a left-footed shot in the box, but Smith made a diving save that turned the match on its head. After Smith's save, the Broncos went on the counter attack with Raimee Sherle scoring the match's first goal, also in the 68th minute.

That sequence seemed to spark the Boise State offense as it added goals in the 80th, 82nd and 86th minutes for the final tally of 4-0.

The Aggies recorded eight shots with four on goal including two shots on goal from Alexa Barrera. Fong wrapped up the match with a season-high eight saves while Smith stopped four shots.
