SAN ANTONIO, TX - The best collegiate baseball player for the month of February is an Aggie.

NM State infielder Nick Gonzales has been named National Player of the Month by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Friday's honor is his second of the week, earing National Player of the Week honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper for the second time this year Monday.

The junior had a monster month of February at the plate for the Aggies, hitting .478 in 12 games and slugging an NCAA-leading 12 homers with 36 RBI, 24 runs scored and a 1.995 OPS.

The Vail, Ariz., native closed out the month by belting five homers with 10 RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Purdue Fort Wayne on Leap Day. He also hit for the cycle, including two dingers, earlier in the month against Iona.
