LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State volleyball team signed three new Aggies on signing day, head coach Mike Jordan announced. The three new Aggies are Marija Egic, Kalli Schoening and Shaney Lipscomb.
Egic hails from Crvenka, Serbia, and spent the last two seasons at Marshalltown Community College. While at Marshalltown, Egic hit .263 on 1,938 total attempts while playing on the right and as an outside hitter. She also added 154 blocks and 257 digs.
“Marija is a well-rounded attacker,” said Jordan. “She can play and score from anywhere, we love her versatility.”
Lipscomb will also have two years of eligibility remaining after a year at Hawaii and time at Grossmont College. The 6-2 San Diego native starred at Grossmont where she hit .294 including .296 a season ago. She hit 785 kills over two seasons at Grossmont and recorded 381 digs.
“Shaney has a great arm and moves really well. She’s capable of doing so many different things and I think she will help us immediately,” Jordan said.
Schoening is set to join the squad as a freshman for the 2020 season. The middle blocker hails from Eugene, Ore., where she played for South Eugene High School. The 6-1 freshman was named First-Team All-Conference in 2018 and 2019.
“Kalli is a very good athlete. Her quickness and jumping ability as a middle hitter are well above average. She has really improved the last year,” said Jordan.
The Aggies will look to win their third-straight WAC Tournament title and make their third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2020.
