Aggies Fall To Georgia Southern 36-28

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State football team fell to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Sun Belt Conference, Saturday, Oct. 4, after losing 36-28 to conference opponent Georgia Southern at Aggie Memorial Stadium in the Tough Enough to Wear Pink game.

Tyler Rogers recorded 329 yards through the air on 34-of-48 passing with three interceptions. Rogers also had a productive night on the ground, going for 49 yards on ten attempts. Brandon Betancourt led the Aggies with 65 yards on the ground on 11 carries, recording two touchdowns.

Larry Rose III and Xavier Hall had a combine 65 yards rushing and a touchdown each. Teldrick Morgan led all receivers with 100 yards on ten catches. Joshua Bowen added 92-yards and Jerrel Brown had 73-yards as well.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NM State Football Falls 63-7 At No. 17/18 LSU

BATON ROUGE, LA - The New Mexico State football team had four takeaways in the first half, but No. 17/18 LSU overcame the turnovers and defeated the Aggies 63-7 in front of 101,987 fans in Tiger Stadium, Saturday, Sept. 27. NM State falls to 2-3 on the year and the Tigers move to 4-1 overall.

Sophomore defensive back Kawe Johnson led the Aggies defense with 12 tackles, three of them solo, to go along with two forced fumbles and an interception. It was the second straight game that Johnson has tallied at least 12 tackles and the third time this season that he has posted double-digit tackles. Senior defensive back Winston Rose pulled in his second interception of the year. LSU came into the game with four turnovers on the season and the Aggie defense doubled that, grabbing two interceptions and picking up two fumbles.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Football Falls 38-35 To UNM In Rio Grande Rivalry

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State football team fell to 2-2 on the season after losing the Rio Grande Rivalry 38-35 to the New Mexico Lobos, now 1-2 on the season, Saturday, Sept. 20, at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces, N.M.

Aggie quarterback Tyler Rogers went 32-of-47 for 333 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Teldrick Morgan had another big game for NM State, catching nine passes for 122 yards. Joseph Matthews added 79 yards on eight catches for the Aggies, with one touchdown. New Mexico threw for 67 yards and earned 412 yards on the ground, led by Crusoe Gongbay who had 134 yards on 15 carries. Aggie Football Falls At UTEP 42-24

EL PASO, TX - The New Mexico State Aggies suffered a 42-24 loss to the UTEP Miners in El Paso, Texas, Saturday, September 13. NM State falls to 2-1 on the season, while falling to 35-55-2 in the overall series with UTEP, having lost the last six meetings between the two teams.

The Aggies showed signs of coming to life, but could never really get the run game going, having to relay fully on their passing attack. Head Coach Doug Martin said, “The third downs; when you can’t run the ball you are going to have a lot of third downs. A lot of third and longs and couldn’t convert. We also dropped a lot of passes that I thought hurt us. Overall, offensively we were just very ineffective.”   Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Football Rallies From 17-Point Deficit To Defeat Georgia State 34-31

ATLANTA, GA - The New Mexico State football team came back from a 17-point deficit and outscored Georgia State 17-7 in the fourth quarter to defeat the Panthers 34-31 in the Georgia Dome, Saturday, Sept. 6. The Aggies move to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Sun Belt Conference play, while Georgia State moves to 1-1 on the year and 0-1 in league play.

The Panthers scored the first 17 points of the game, which included a 68-yard touchdown pass, an 8-yard touchdown run and a 38-yard field goal but that was not enough to deflate NM State as the Aggies would score the next 10 points of the game. Aggie Football Opens 2014 With 28-10 Victory Over Cal Poly

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State football team began the 2014 season with a nice win defeating the Cal Poly Mustangs, 28-10 its home opener Thursday night in front of 13,772 fans inside Aggie Memorial Stadium.

The Aggies gained 315 total yards while allowing Cal Poly 265 yards. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Rogers looked comfortable in the pocket during his first start, going 18-of-27 for 118 yards, two touchdown throws and one interception. The NM State ground attack also looked in midseason form as the Aggies almost rushed for 200 total yards, finishing with 197 yards on the ground.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Crimson Defeats White In Annual Spring Football Game

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State football team wrapped up its annual spring football game on Saturday, April 19, at Aggie Memorial Stadium. The crimson team won the contest outscoring the white team 53-46.

The offense for the Aggies wore crimson while the defense wore white jerseys for the game.

NM State’s defense got the first eight points on the board after forcing the Aggies to punt on their first three possessions and getting two tackles for a loss.

The remainder of the quarter was dominated by the defense who led 14-5 at the end of the first quarter. The Aggies offense had a strong drive that led to senior Maxwell Johnson hitting a field goal to earn the crimson team three points.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Football Ends 2013 With A 24-16 Victory Over Idaho

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State football team finished off the 2013 season by holding off the Idaho Vandals, 24-16, in Aggie Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Aggies finish the season with a 2-10 record while the Vandals finish at 1-11.

NM State would score 17 of the final 20 points in the game, including outscoring Idaho 14-3 in the second half, to claim its second victory of the season. The defense would pace the Aggies, claiming an interception, turnover on downs and a stop in the end zone as time expired during Idaho’s final three possessions.

On the offensive side, senior quarterback Andrew McDonald finished 17-of-27 for 186 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Senior running back Germi Morrison had his second 100-yard game of the season, and third of his career, after finishing with 111 rushing yards on 17 carries.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggies Routed By Florida Atlantic, 55-10

BOCA RATON, FL - The New Mexico State Football team fell to Florida Atlantic Saturday afternoon, 55-10 at FAU Stadium. NM State goes to 1-10 on the season, as FAU improves to 5-6 on the year.

NM State had 278 yards of total offense on the day compared to FAU’s 585 yards. Quarterback Andrew McDonald threw for 136 yards on 13-of-27 passing. Running back Xavier Hall carried the ball 12 times for 74 yards, while wide receiver Austin Franklin led the receiving corps with four catches for 58 yards. Franklin moved into fourth all-time in receptions for a career and now has 154.

Defensively, Davis Cazares led the team with 13 tackles, followed by linebackers Bryan Bonilla and Rodney Butler with seven and six respectively. Cazares’ 13 tackles was his fifth double digit tackle game of the season.  Continue Reading This Post >>
