NMSU Women's Basketball Routs Chicago State 77-54 On Senior Day

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State women’s basketball team extended its winning streak to 13 games after a 77-54 win over Chicago State at the Pan American Center on Saturday, the fourth-longest winning streak in program history. This was the Aggies 22nd-consecutive Western Athletic Conference home win.

New Mexico State (22-6, 14-1) opened a 7-2 lead early after a three from Gia Pack at the 7:12 mark. However, the Cougars (2-26, 2-13) then went on a 12-5 run to lead 14-12 with 2:33 to play in the first. NMSU Women Rally For 68-61 Win Over UMKC, Clinch Fifth Straight Outright WAC Regular Season Title

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - With a shot at clinching its fifth-straight Western Athletic Conference regular-season championship slipping through its fingers, the New Mexico State women’s basketball team held Kansas City to just four fourth-quarter points as it erased a 12-point deficit with 8:24 to win 68-61 in the Pan American Center Thursday night, its 12th-straight win.

Monique Mills got the Aggies going with a three just thirty points into the game. After forcing a turnover, Gia Pack scored to make it 5-0 NM State just 37 seconds into the game. NM State then went up 13-7 after a three from Monique Mills at the 6:16 mark. From there Kansas City closed the quarter on a 19-2 run to end the quarter with a 26-15 lead. NMSU Women's Basketball Clinches Top Seed In WAC Tournament With 70-67 Win At UTRGV

EDINBURG, TX - The New Mexico State women’s basketball team outlasted UT Rio Grande Valley, 70-67, in Edinburg on Saturday night for its 11th-straight win and clinched the #1 seed in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament for the fifth-straight year.

The Aggies (20-6, 12-1) fell behind 4-0 early before a Monique Mills three with 8:42 in the first got NM State on the board. UTRGV (14-12, 8-5) then went a 7-2 run to lead 11-5 with 4:32 on the clock. NMSU Women's Basketball Rallies At Seattle For 83-72 Win

SEATTLE, WA - The New Mexico State women’s basketball team trailed for much of the first three quarters at the Redhawk Center Saturday afternoon before outscoring Seattle 29-12 in the fourth for an 83-72 win, its 10th in a row.

Seattle U (1-23, 1-10) started the scoring with a three just 18 seconds into the contest. Monique Mills then responded with a three of her own to tie it up before Gia Pack bullied her way to the basket to give the Aggies (19-6, 11-1) a 5-3 lead. The two sides traded baskets with the Redhawks leading 11-10 at the media timeout midway through the quarter. NMSU Women's Basketball Hangs On Against Utah Valley 72-63

OREM, UT - The New Mexico State Women’s basketball team built a 15-point lead going into the fourth quarter before withstanding a comeback attempt from UVU for a 72-63 road win, the team’s ninth-straight victory on Thursday afternoon.

After Brooke Salas got into foul trouble early, the Wolverines (12-11, 6-4) raced out to an early 6-0 lead. However, Monique Mills kicked off a 7-0 run, ended by a three from Gia Pack, as NM State (18-6, 10-1) took a 7-6 lead at 5:13 mark of the first quarter. NMSU Women's Basketball Routs Grand Canyon 81-52

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State women’s basketball team took down Grand Canyon 81-52 at the Pan American Center Thursday afternoon for its 20th-consecutive home Western athletic Conference win and eight-straight overall.

Neither side was able to get any offense going until Gia Pack scored back-to-back buckets to give the Aggies (17-6, 9-1) a 4-0 lead at the 8:20 mark of the first quarter. Grand Canyon (5-15, 3-7) then responded with an 8-2 run to take an 8-6 lead before Brooke Salas put NM state back in the lead, 9-8, with a three right before the media timeout. NMSU Women's Basketball Defeats CSU Bakersfield 61-48

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State women’s basketball team rode a strong defensive performance to its 19th-straight Western Athletic Conference home win, and seventh-straight victory overall, 61-48 over CSU Bakersfield on Thursday night at the Pan American Center.

The ‘Runners flexed their defensive prowess early, racing out to an early 5-0 lead. However, buckets from Adenike Aderinto and Gia Pack brought the Aggies within one at 5-4 with 6:08 in the first. Both defenses continued to play well and NM State trailed 20-8 going into the second quarter of action. NMSU Women's Basketball Defeats Chicago State 87-66

CHICAGO, IL - The New Mexico State women’s basketball team took down Chicago State in the Windy City, 87-66, to win its sixth-straight game and remain in first-place in the Western Athletic Conference standings.

The Aggies (15-6, 7-1 WAC) raced out to an early 11-1 lead before the Cougars made it a six point game at 13-7. Monique Mills then drilled a three followed by a three-point play from Gia Pack for a 19-7 NM State lead with 2:35 remaining in the period. New Mexico State then got a step-back jumper from Stabresa McDaniel before a Cougar layup made it 22-13 NM State after one.

NM State then went on a 14-8 run to build a 36-21 lead with just over three minutes to play in the half. After Chicago State brought the game within 10 points at 38-28, Monique Mills hit back-to-back threes as the Aggies took a 44-30 lead into the halftime break.  Continue Reading This Post >>

KANSAS CITY, MO - The New Mexico State women’s basketball team took down Kansas City 90-86 at the Swinney Recreation Center on Thursday night to claim sole possession of first place in the Western Athletic Conference.

Kansas City opened the game on a 10-3 run with the Aggies only points in that stretch coming on a three from Monique Mills. After the Roos pushed their lead to 16-9, NM State responded with a 9-2 run to the end quarter trailing by just one at 18-17.

New Mexico State carried its run into the second quarter, with Gia Pack making a three just 10 seconds into the period followed by a jumper from Dominique Mills to take a 22-18 lead. From there, Monique Mills and Aaliyah Prince made back-to-back threes followed by an Aggie steal and a three-point play from Pack for the 31-20 lead with 6:50 in the second. NMSU Women's Basketball Defeats UTRGV 71-63

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State women’s basketball team won its 18th-straight Western Athletic Conference home game, 71-63, over UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday afternoon from the Pan American Center.

The Aggies established strong defense from the get-go, opening the game on a 12-0 run and not allowing UTRGV to score until the 3:52 mark in the first. NM State forced turnovers on the Vaqueros first five possessions. However, UT Rio Grande Valley made two three pointers and cut the NM State lead to 16-8 at the end of the first. New Mexico State forced 10 turnovers in the period.

The Vaqueros then further cut the Aggies’ lead to six after a pair of free throws to start the second quarter before Brooke Salas hit a jumper and Gia Pack made two threes and a lay in to extend the lead to 26-11 and force a Vaquero timeout with 7:11 in the half.  Continue Reading This Post >>
