KANSAS CITY, MO - The New Mexico State women's basketball team played its final road game of the regular season against UMKC at the Swinney Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. The Aggies had a flurry of scoring which featured five players finishing with double-digits to lead NM State to a 76-67 victory.
In a game full of lead changes, NM State (16-11, 10-3 WAC) looked to strong play in the paint where they outscored UMKC (10-18, 6-7 WAC) 34-14 and added seven blocks compared to zero for the Roos to spur the team to victory.
The game opened with Kansas City winning the opening tip and putting NM State in a quick 5-1 hole. The first lead change of the game came just 50 seconds later when a 6-0 run gave the Aggies a 7-5 edge.
A closely contested remainder of the first quarter saw the teams trade baskets with NM State leading by just one, 14-13, through 10 minutes of action. Continue Reading This Post >>
