NMSU Volleyball Wins Five Set Battle With Rival UTEP

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State volleyball team closed out the Borderland Invitational with a match against UTEP at the Pan American Center on Sunday. The Aggies downed the Miners 20-25, 25-16, 17-25, 25-15, 15-10, to remain undefeated this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

NM State (6-0) and UTEP (4-3) kept the opening set close but the Aggies trailed 14-10 after allowing the opposition to score four-straight. An off-speed kill by Savannah Davison broke up the rally but as the set progressed, the squad was still unable to find a rhythm and trailed 18-13 when head coach Mike Jordan used his second timeout. NMSU Volleyball Sweeps Rival Lobos

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State volleyball continued its run at the Borderland Invitational with a match against New Mexico on Saturday night. The Aggies took down the Lobos 25-15, 25-17, 25-14, for the team's fifth-straight sweep

"We did a better job passing the ball today. I think we served it tougher, putting UNM on its heels," Mike Jordan said. "Our blockers also did great. They were really solid again for us tonight."

NMSU Volleyball Dominates Pacific In 3-0 Sweep

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State volleyball opened the Borderland Invitational with a match against Pacific at the Pan American Center on Friday night. The Aggies swept the Tigers 25-22, 25-7, 25-18 for their fourth-straight sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED

NM State (4-0) went back-and-forth with Pacific (2-2) early in the opening set but at the media timeout, the Aggies found themselves down 15-10. Following the break, New Mexico State battled back and a block by Julianna Salanoa and Lia Mosher put the team down by one. With Halle Razo serving, the Aggies took a 21-19 lead over the Tigers, forcing the opposition to use a timeout. The squads kept the set close down the stretch but a kill by Savannah Davison put away the 25-22 opening set victory.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Volleyball Sweeps Tennessee State To Claim Auburn Tournament Title

AUBURN, AL - New Mexico State volleyball closed out the War Eagle Invitational with a match against Tennessee State at Auburn Arena on Saturday. The Aggies took down the Tigers 25-22, 25-20, 25-20, completing their third-straight sweep.

"Today was a bit of a test for us. Tennessee State really made us work," head coach Mike Jordan said. "People missed a few assignments but we held up defensively. Late in the match, our team really stepped up when we needed them."

NMSU Volleyball Sweeps Auburn

AUBURN, AL - New Mexico State volleyball dominated tournament host Auburn at the War Eagle Invitational on Friday night. The Aggies topped the Tigers 25-16, 25-18, 25-14 for team's second sweep of the season.

"We managed the game well. Our players did a great job finding seams and we had good digging again this match," head coach Mike Jordan said. "It's always great to get a win over a Power-5 program, especially on their home court."

HOW IT HAPPENED

NM State (2-0) battled back-and-forth with AU (0-2) but with Natalie Mikels serving, the Aggie squad pulled away to take a 13-9 lead, forcing the opposition to burn a timeout. The Tigers did not go away quietly, pulling within one but New Mexico State kept its composure and held a 19-14 lead late in the set. NMSU Volleyball Sweeps Butler To Open 2019 Campaign

AUBURN, AL - New Mexico State volleyball faced Butler at Auburn Arena as a part of the War Eagle Invitational on Friday. In their first match of the 2019 season, the Aggies swept the Bulldogs 25-14, 25-18, 25-17.

"I was really happy with the defensive effort as a team," head coach Mike Jordan said. "I thought our first contact, other than one stretch, was solid. I'm pleased to see contributions from multiple people. It's a process and we have a lot to learn and a long way to go, but it's a good first step."

NMSU Volleyball Falls To Texas Tech In Exhibition Match

LUBBOCK, TX - The New Mexico State volleyball team took on Texas Tech in an exhibition match at the United Supermarkets Arena on Sunday. The Aggies fell 16-25, 14-25, 25-15, 20-25, 23-25 in the preseason match against the Red Raiders.

Megan Hart led NM State with 12 kills while Cat Kelly followed closely behind with 10 kills in the match. Natalie Mikels (23) Krysten Garrison (12) and Autumn Gentry (10) recorded double-digit assists for the Aggies. Defensively, Lia Mosher posted a team-high five blocks while Halle Razo tallied 11 digs.

Fans can get a first look at the NM State squad when the team hosts its annual Crimson and White scrimmage at the Pan American Center on Aug. 24 at 3 p.m. MT. Admission is free for all those in attendance.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Volleyball Ends Season With Loss Against No. 15 Oregon

EUGENE, OR - New Mexico State volleyball took on No. 15-seeded Oregon at Matthew Knight Arena as a part of the first round for the NCAA Tournament on Thursday. Despite taking a set from the Ducks, the Aggies fell 22-25, 25-18, 21-25, 11-25 ending the team's postseason run.

"First, I want to congratulate Oregon on the win. I thought they played a good match and obviously they are very talented," head coach Mike Jordan said. "It was a great battle for a long time. I enjoyed it and I think our players did too. Up until [the last set] we were in control for long stretches of time. We had a few more kills than they did and we dug the ball really well. I'm never happy with losses but I thought we played exceptional volleyball at times. I am very proud of this team."

NMSU Volleyball Claims WAC Title

BAKERSFIELD, CA - New Mexico State volleyball faced Utah Valley in the championship match of the 2018 Western Athletic Conference tournament at the Icardo Center on Saturday night. The Aggies trounced the Wolverines 19-25, 28-26, 25-20, 25-17 to earn the WAC tournament title.

"I'm just really proud of this team. I didn't know what to expect. I knew it would be hard replacing five seniors, all the injuries we've had, and having the young talent on the floor that hadn't been tested prior," head coach Mike Jordan said. "We got tougher and better at some things. Any time you get a chance to dancing, you have to cherish it."

NMSU Volleyball Wins On Senior Day, Secures 2-Seed In WAC Tournament

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State volleyball hosted Chicago State for a Western Athletic Conference match at the Pan American Center on Saturday, Nov. 17. The Aggies swept the Cougars 25-18, 31-29, 25-20 for the contest. With the victory, the Crimson and White secured the two seed in the 2018 WAC Tournament.

"I'm proud of our seniors for finishing with a win at home and doing so much for this team these last four years," head coach Mike Jordan said. "I think the fact that we are 22-7 with all the injuries we've had and graduating so many players the year before says a lot about the senior's leadership."
