The New Mexico State volleyball team closed out the season with a 3-0 (8-25, 17-25, 14-25) loss to No. 12 national seed BYU in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship.
It was a rough night offensively for the Aggies as they struggled with their ball control and could seemingly never string together long point runs as they had done in the WAC tournament just a week ago. The Aggies hit -.034 as a team, the only time the team has been held to a negative hitting percentage this season. Lauren Loerch led the Aggie attack finishing with a team-high seven kills on 20 swings hitting .250. Meredith Hays finished the night with six kills on 21 swings hitting .143.
The Aggies were plagued by a slow start in the first set falling behind 12-2 as BYU turned a slim 3-2 lead into a comfortable ten point advantage. The Aggies would never recover and the Cougars would take an easy 25-8 victory. Continue Reading This Post >>
