Aggies Sweep Binghamton In Doubleheader, Sweep Second Consecutive Series

The New Mexico State baseball team took both games of a Saturday doubleheader against Binghamton to complete their second consecutive four-game sweep and improve to 19-5 on the season.

The Aggies pounded out 13 runs on 14 hits in a 13-5 victory in game one behind a complete game outing from Ryan Beck who allowed five runs on 10 hits while striking out seven and walking just two Bearcat batters.

In the second game the Aggies scored a pair of runs in the first inning and held the lead throughout as they got a strong outing from Riley Bevill who pitched 6.1 innings giving up two runs on nine hits while striking out two and walking two.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Baseball Comes From Behind To Defeat Binghamton 9-6

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State baseball team fought back to defeat Binghamton 9-6, Friday, March 25, after falling behind for the first time in six games. The Aggies take their winning streak to six and go to 17-5 on the year after the win at Presley Askew Field.

The Aggies were down 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded when senior first baseman Ryan Aguayo picked up an RBI on a walk to tie the game. Sophomore designated hitter Zac Fisher had the go-ahead RBI as he followed Aguayo with a walk of his own. Aggies Crush Binghamton 18-3 In Series Opener

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State baseball team tallied more than 10 runs for the fifth consecutive game as it defeated Binghamton 18-3 at Presley Askew Field, Thursday, March 24.

NM State tallied its 18 runs on 18 hits, while committing just one error. The Bearcats posted its three runs on six hits, while two of their runs came in the seventh inning. Aggies Complete Sweep Over IPFW With 16-8 Victory

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Aggie Baseball team completed the sweep of IPFW (Indiana-Purdue, Fort Wayne) Sunday afternoon, 16-8, at Presley Askew Field. The Aggies improve to 15-5 on the season, while IPFW falls to 2-10 overall.

Trey Ross took the win on the mound for the Aggies with one and two-thirds of work, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out one batter. He improves to 4-1 on the season.

At the plate, the Aggies were led by Bryan Karraker, who went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Parker Hipp also had a good day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI, while Zac Fisher collected four RBI as well with two hits on four at-bats, scoring two runs.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggies Sweep Mastodons In Saturday Doubleheader

The New Mexico State baseball team swept a Saturday doubleheader with IPFW to improve to 14-5 on the season. The Aggies pounded out 14 hits and used a seven run fourth inning to break open a 3-1 game en route to a 14-5 win. In the second day of the doubleheader the Aggies jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held on for an 11-8 victory.

The Aggies scored the first three runs of the day getting an RBI single from Wes Starkes in the second inning and a two-run home run from Ryan Aguayo in the third inning. IPFW would score in the top of the fourth inning to cut the Aggies' lead to 3-1 but New Mexico State's offense would explode for seven runs in the bottom of the inning getting six consecutive hits to start the inning including an RBI double from Parker Hipp, an RBI double from Ryan Aguayo, a two-RBI single from Zac Fisher and a two-RBI single from Ryan Clark.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggies Fall To VMI For Second Day In A Row

The New Mexico State baseball team dropped a 5-0 decision to Virginia Military Institute. The Aggies generated just four hits on the day, two coming from Tanner Waite who also drew a walk.

The Keydets would take the lead in the second inning getting a leadoff single from Alex Haitsuka who would advance to second on a sacrifice bunt. Andrew Montague would get a bunt single to move Haitsuka to third and he would come around to score on a fielder's choice giving VMI a 1-0 lead.

VMI would add another run in the third as they would draw a leadoff walk from Justin Hess who would come around to score on a fielder's choice three batters later.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggies Fall 7-0 At Oregon State

CORVALLIS, OR - Junior Sam Gaviglio pushed his scoreless innings pitched streak to 29 as Oregon State shutout New Mexico State, 7-0, in non-conference baseball action Friday night at Goss Stadium.

The loss drops the Aggies to 11-4 on the year while the Beavers improve to 11-3.

Gaviglio, who has not given up a run in his four starts this season, retired 15 of the first 18 Aggie batters he faced. The righty gave up just three hits and struck out five over eight innings of work to improve to 3-0 on the year.

Aggie sophomore Ryan Beck pitched well in his fifth appearance of the season, giving up just two earned runs in seven innings of work. After a tough second innings that saw OSU plate six runs on four hits, Beck retired the Beavers in order in the both the third and fifth innings.  Continue Reading This Post >>

The New Mexico State baseball team dropped a 7-2 decision to Virginia Military Institute on Friday afternoon in Corvallis, Ore. The Aggies trailed the Keydets 3-2 heading to the bottom of the eighth inning but VMI would plate four runs to push their lead to 7-2.

Playing as the visiting team the Aggies would strike first in the top of the fourth inning as Kurt Snowley would draw a one out walk and later advance to third on a single from Ty Forney. Wes Starkes would bring Snowley home on a fielder's choice. The Keydets would answer the Aggies' run in the bottom of the fifth as leadoff hitter Chase Worthington would triple to lead off the inning.
