NMSU Softball Sweeps First Weekend Of Fall Competition

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State softball team had a great start to its fall ball this past weekend, sweeping both Western New Mexico and Battle of I-10 rival UTEP on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The Aggies showed that last year’s record-breaking number of stolen bases was not a fluke this weekend as well, swiping a ridiculous 27 bags in the four games on top of their .446 team batting average.

In its first game of fall ball, the Aggies destroyed WNMU 18-2 behind a combined effort from Kayla Green and Fahren Glackin in the circle. Aggie Softball Falls To Bakersfield 1-0 In Championship Game

SEATTLE, WA - After six scoreless innings, the NM State softball team fell 1-0 to CSU Bakersfield in the championship game of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament at Logan Field in Seattle. Aggie Softball Eliminates Seattle, Advances To Championship Saturday

SEATTLE, WA - Tatum Reedy had five RBIs to lead the NM State softball team to a 6-4 victory over Seattle U in Friday’s final elimination game of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Aggies (38-20) scored six runs and racked up six RBIs on seven hits. Reedy went 2-for-3 with five RBIs and a home run. Makayla McAdams pitched 4.2 innings and had one strikeout in 19 batters faced.

Seattle U (19-33) scored four runs and had four RBIs on nine hits. Andie Larkins pitched 3.0 innings and allowed six runs on five hits with zero strikeouts in 16 batters faced.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Softball Falls To Bakersfield 2-1 In WAC Tournament, Faces Elimination Game

SEATTLE, WA - Despite outhitting the Roadrunners eight to three, the NM State softball team dropped a 2-1 decision to third-seeded CSU Bakersfield on Friday afternoon at Logan Field.

The Aggies (37-20) scored one run and amassed one RBI on eight hits. Rachel Rodriguez went 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, an RBI and a walk. Karysta Donisthope pitched 6.0 innings and had eight strikeouts in 24 batters faced.

Aggie Softball Defeats Utah Valley 5-2 In WAC Tournament Opener

SEATTLE, WA - Senior Karysta Donisthorpe threw a career-high 13 strikeouts as she led the NM State softball team to a 5-2 win over fifth-seeded Utah Valley on Thursday afternoon at Logan Field.

The Aggies (37-19) scored five runs and racked up four RBIs on eight hits, but Donisthorpe was the highlight of the game as she led NM State to victory. The senior threw a career-high 13 strikeouts, allowed just three hits and had zero walks in 20 batters faced. Her previous career-high was 11 against South Dakota on Feb. 24, 2013.

From the first to the fourth inning, Donisthorpe threw eight strikeouts in a row with seven batters going down swinging. Overall, Donisthorpe struck out three batters looking and 10 batters swinging.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Softball Rallies For 3-2 Win Over UNM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Despite trailing by one entering the seventh inning, the NM State softball team defeated Rio Grande rival New Mexico in a 3-2, come-from-behind victory in eight innings.

The Aggies (36-19) scored three runs and amassed two RBIs on nine hits. Brennalyn Nakamura went 3-for-3 and had three stolen bases. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 8.0 innings and had six strikeouts.

Aggie Softball Sweeps Doubleheader At UMKC, Wins Regular Season Title

KANSAS CITY, MO - The NM State softball team used a big seventh inning to come-from-behind and defeat UMKC 7-2 on Saturday in game two of the series to capture the Western Athletic Conference regular season championship before collecting the series sweep with an 11-8 win in the series finale. The Aggies won game one 5-4 on Friday. With the second victory, head coach Kathy Rodolph secured her 600th overall win.

Aggie Softball Rallies To Defeat UMKC 5-4

KANSAS CITY, MO - Brennalyn Nakamura went 3-for-4 and drove in Victoria Castro for the winning run as the NM State softball team topped Missouri-Kansas City 5-4 on Friday in game one of the series. Game two has been postponed until Saturday at 12:00 p.m. MT.

The Aggies (33-19, 12-1 WAC) scored five runs and amassed four RBIs on 11 hits. Kelsey Horton went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched a 7.0 innings and collected 10 strikeouts in 27 batters faced.

Aggie Softball Sweeps Series With Bakersfield

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Emma Adams broke the program record for career doubles with her 43rd double in game one of Senior Day as the NM State softball team topped CSU Bakersfield 12-1. The Aggies defeated the visiting team 4-2 in game two to complete the series sweep. Friday, NM State won 6-5. After the game, NM State honored Karysta Donisthorpe, Adams, Fiana Finau, Makayla McAdams, Brennalyn Nakamura and Tatum Reedy for Senior Night.

Game One

The Aggies (32-19, 11-1 WAC) scored 12 runs and collected 12 RBIs on 10 hits. Rachel Rodriguez went 2-for-3 and scored three runs with a stolen base. Donsithorpe pitched 5.0 innings and had four strikeouts in 24 batters faced.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - After an hour and 20 minute weather delay, the NM State softball team came from behind to defeat CSU Bakersfield 6-5 on a rainy Friday night at the NM State Softball Complex.

The Aggies (30-19, 9-1 WAC) scored six runs and amassed six RBIs on five hits. Tatum Reedy went 1-for-3 with a run and four RBIs after she hit her seventh home run of the season. Makayla McAdams pitched 4.1 innings and had three strikeouts in 20 batters faced.
