NMSU Softball Sweeps Doubleheader At UMKC, Sweeps WAC Series

KANSAS CITY, MO - The New Mexico State softball team continued Western Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader against Kansas City at the Urban Youth Academy. The Aggies completed the series sweep by taking down the Roos 7-2 and 7-3.

“It’s great to get a sweep to open conference play,” head coach Kathy Rodolph said. “We had some strong contributions in the circle and many timely hits when we needed them.”

GAME ONE
After a scoreless inning for both teams, NM State (18-14) drew first blood in the second after Victoria Castro and Sarai Mejia reached on a pair of singles. In her first collegiate at bat, Analise De La Roca hit a booming double to right center to score the runners and give the Aggies the 2-0 advantage.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Softball Downs UMKC 6-0 In WAC Opener

KANSAS CITY, MO - New Mexico State softball opened Western Athletic Conference play on Friday night with a contest at the Urban Youth Academy against Kansas City. The Aggies took down the Roos 6-0 for their first victory in league play.

“It was a great start to conference play,” head coach Kathy Rodolph said. “Kayla Green and Mikayla Bongi did a great job in the circle for us while Nikki Butler and Amy Bergeson really led us offensively.”

After a pair of scoreless innings for both squads, Rachel Rodriguez got the NM State (16-14, 1-0 WAC) offense going when she reached on a single and followed the hit by recording a stolen base. Fahren Glackin walked and a pop out by Kelsey Horton helped both runners advance into scoring position. Nikki Butler posted a double to left center, bringing the seniors home for a 2-0 advantage over UMKC (10-23, 0-1 WAC).  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Softball Sweeps Doubleheader Against UTEP

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State softball took on Battle of I-10 rival UTEP in a doubleheader at the NM State Softball Complex on Tuesday. The Aggies completed the season sweep of the Miners as the team took down UTEP 8-6 and 8-0.

"These were good games for us tonight," head coach Kathy Rodolph said. "We had solid contributions in the circle and offensively. The defensive highlight of the night was definitely our outfield. They had great range all over and made some great plays for us."

GAME ONE
Kayla Green earned the start in the circle and junior gave up a walk to begin the game. After the UTEP (11-23) runner advanced to second on a wild pitch by NM State (15-14), a fly ball and a ground out put a pair of outs on the board but also advanced the runner to third. NMSU Softball Falls Short Against DePaul

LAS VEGAS, NV> - The New Mexico State softball team opened the Rebel Classic against DePaul at Eller Media Stadium on Thursday night. The Aggies fell 11-5 to the Blue Demons despite a late rally in the seventh inning.

Samaria Diaz got the start in the circle for NM State (10-9) and struggled from the beginning, giving up a pair of homers to DePaul (15-5) to put the Aggies behind 2-0. Kayla Green came in to relieve the sophomore, striking out a batter to end the inning.

The Blue Demons momentum continued into the second and after Green gave up a pair of walks and a fielder’s choice, a single for DePaul scored the third run of the game to put NM State further behind. Following the frame, Green settled in the circle and pitched a pair of scoreless innings but the New Mexico State offense was unable to bring a run across the plate.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Softball Splits Doubleheader At Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, TX - The New Mexico State softball team faced Texas Tech at Rocky Johnson Field on Tuesday afternoon. The Aggies split the doubleheader with the Red Raiders falling 7-4 before taking down Tech 3-1.

"Today was a great opportunity to get experience against a Big 12 team, " head coach Kathy Rodolph said. "Our pitchers were able to come out and adjust after game one and keep us in game two."

GAME ONE

NMSU Softball Wraps Up UTEP Tournament With 8-4 Win Over Idaho State

EL PASO, TX - The New Mexico State softball team closed out the UTEP Tournament with a victory at Helen of Troy Field on Sunday. The Aggies defeated Idaho State 8-4 and Victoria Castro and Shelby Shultes each had a home run in the win.

"It was a great rebound victoy for us today," head coach Kathy Rodolph said. "I felt like we played more of our style both offensively and in the circle. I'm looking forward to a big week."

Analise De La Roca earned her first start in the circle but the freshmen hit trouble from the start after allowing back-to-back singles with a pair of outs. EL PASO, TX - The New Mexico State softball team split a pair of contests during the UTEP Tournament at the Helen of Troy Field on Saturday. NM State took down Idaho State 8-3 but fell to Portland State 6-5.

"Today we learned about battling back," head coach Kathy Rodolph said. "Both Idaho State and Portland State came to play today. I tip my hat to Portland State. Hopefully this is going to give us experience we need to play every single day. I'm proud of the girls, we battled but we just battled too late."

NMSU Softball Wins A Pair On Day One At UTEP Tournament

EL PASO, TX - The New Mexico State softball team went undefeated during the first day of the UTEP Tournament at the Helen of Troy Field on Friday. The Aggies opened the tournament by taking down Portland State 7-3 and Idaho State 18-0. NM State tallied six home runs between the two games including a grand slam by sophomore Shelby Shultes.

GAME ONE

Kayla Green earned the start in the circle for New Mexico State (6-3). The junior struggled after hitting a Viking batter with one out in the opening inning. A two-out double by Portland State (1-4) brought the runner home and the Aggies trailed 1-0 heading into their first at bat. However, NM State quickly overcame the deficit in the bottom of the inning when Fahren Glackin hit her first home run of the season, tying the game.  Continue Reading This Post >>

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State softball closed the Troy Cox Classic with a win over Boston University at the NM State Softball Complex on Sunday. Kelsey Horton hit her second home run of the season in the team's 2-1 victory

"It was a great win for us today. It was a good rebound from a very short night and we had multiple contributions by multiple people, which strengthens us as a team," head coach Kathy Rodolph said. "We had strong performances in the circle by both pitchers. I liked that Kelsey led off the game with a home run followed by a double by Rachel.
