SEATTLE, WA - The New Mexico State softball team remained undefeated in Western Athletic Conference play and ran its current winning streak to five-straight games after defeating Seattle U, 7-2, on a cold and wet Friday at Logan Field.

The Aggies (28-11, 4-0 WAC) begin the WAC schedule with four-consecutive wins and have now won 10 of 12 games.

NM State right-hander Karysta Donisthorpe picked up her fourth complete-game win in the circle to improve to 15-3 on the season. The New Mexico native scattered six hits while allowing only two runs and striking out five Redhawks.

Catcher Tatum Reedy went 2-for-3 on the day with a home run and a double while Fiana Finau once again had the big hit as NM State was holding on to a 4-2 lead heading into the final inning before the Aggie junior came up in the top of the seventh and belted a three-run shot to left center to give the visitors some breathing room.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Softball Run Rules Utah Valley Twice To Complete Series Sweep

Written By: NM State Athletic Dept.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State softball team shut out Utah Valley in both games of a doubleheader on Saturday to sweep the three-game series and begin Western Athletic Conference play at 3-0.

Each game lasted only five innings as the Aggies (27-11, 3-0 WAC) dominated Utah Valley (12-25, 0-3 WAC) in all aspects, winning game one 9-0 and game two 10-0. It is the second time this season NM State has earned back-to-back shutouts as it also did it in Las Vegas, defeating UNLV and Wisconsin in consecutive games.

“Any time you get to start conference play at home you have to take advantage of that and capitalize on it,” Aggie head coach Kathy Rodolph said. “We knew we really had to come out and really start aggressively, and we feel like we still have some work to do, but we’re playing well and capitalizing in key areas and coming through when we need to.”  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie State Softball Extends Win Streak To Nine Straight

Written By: NM State Athletic Dept.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State softball team ran its winning streak to nine in a row with wins over Tulsa and North Dakota Saturday evening at the NMSU Softball Complex.

NM State upended Tulsa 12-10 and fought past North Dakota 19-13.

“Both wins were great team efforts,” NM State head coach Kathy Rodolph said following the win over North Dakota. “What I like about this team is our overall depth on offense. We can sub in a player and we don’t lose a lot at the plate. We were a little disappointed with our defense, but we’ll continue to get better in that area.”

In game one against the Golden Hurricanes, NM State used a fast start to gain early momentum. Tatum Reedy’s two RBI single highlighted a four-run first inning and the Aggies led 4-1 after one complete.  Continue Reading This Post >>
