Aggie Softball Holds Off Bakersfield 6-5

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - After an hour and 20 minute weather delay, the NM State softball team came from behind to defeat CSU Bakersfield 6-5 on a rainy Friday night at the NM State Softball Complex.

The Aggies (30-19, 9-1 WAC) scored six runs and amassed six RBIs on five hits. Tatum Reedy went 1-for-3 with a run and four RBIs after she hit her seventh home run of the season. Makayla McAdams pitched 4.1 innings and had three strikeouts in 20 batters faced.

CSU Bakersfield (13-27, 5-5 WAC) scored five runs and had five RBIs in seven hits. Amber Mills pitched 3.1 innings and had one strikeout in 19 batters faced.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Softball Shuts Out UTEP On Tuesday Night

EL PASO, TX - Emma Adams tied the program record for career doubles with her 42nd double as the NM State softball team defeated Battle of I-10 rival 12-0 on Tuesday at Helen of Troy Field.

The Aggies (29-19) scored 12 runs and amassed eight RBIs on 13 hits. Fiana Finau went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs, which included her ninth home run of the season. Kayla Green pitched 4.0 innings and had two strikeouts in 13 batters faced.

UTEP (19-24) had one hit. Kaitlin Fifield pitched 4.0 innings and allowed nine runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts in 26 batters faced.

The Aggies took the lead in the top of the first inning. Kelsey Horton hit a single to left field. Finau then hit a single up the middle and advanced to third on an error, while Horton scored on the play. Aggie Softball Defeats GCU 9-1, Wins Series

PHOENIX, AZ - The NM State softball team secured the series victory over Grand Canyon on Saturday night as they captured a 9-1 win at Stapleton-Pierson Stadium. The Aggies fell 6-5 in game one on Friday before bouncing back to top the Lopes 8-0 in game two.

The Aggies (28-19, 8-1 WAC) scored nine runs and amassed seven RBIs on 10 hits. Corrin Green was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Kayla Green pitched 5.0 innings and had one strikeout in 29 batters faced.

Grand Canyon (29-15, 4-5) scored one run and had one RBI on three hits. Taylor Nowlin collected two strikeouts and allowed seven runs on six hits in 21 batters faced.

The Aggies took the lead in the top of the first inning. Fahren Glackin was walked and advanced to third as Fiana Finau hit a double to right center. Glackin and Finau both scored as Green hit a single to right center to give NM State a 2-0 advantage.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Softball Splits Doubleheader At Grand Canyon

PHOENIX, AZ - After falling 6-5 in game one, the NM State softball team rebounded to capture an 8-0 win in five innings in game two against Grand Canyon on Friday night at Stapleton-Pierson Stadium.

Game One

The Aggies (27-19, 7-1 WAC) scored five runs and amassed five RBIs on five hits. Horton went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a home run, her 12th home run of the season. Makayla McAdams pitched 5.2 innings and had one strikeout in 28 batters faced.

Aggie Softball Sweeps Series With Utah Valley

OREM, UT - The NM State softball team completed the series sweep of Utah Valley on Saturday with a 4-2 victory at the Wolverine Softball Field. The Aggies defeated the Wolverines 9-0 and 11-1 in games one and two, respectively, on Friday.

The Aggies (26-18, 6-0 WAC) scored four runs and collected three RBIs on seven hits. Rachel Rodriguez went 1-for-2, scored two runs and amassed two RBIs. Makayla McAdams pitched 6.2 innings and had five strikeouts in 22 batters faced.

Utah Valley (5-29, 1-5 WAC) scored two runs and had two RBIs on five hits. Bailey Moore had four strikeouts in 32 batters faced.

Utah Valley put runners on base in the bottom of the first inning. Brianna Gatlin doubled to left field and Kendall Ohman was walked to put runners on first and second. After Tiana Hensley fouled out to Amy Bergeson, Emma Adams turned a double play to end the inning.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Softball Drops Doubleheader At No. 18 Arizona

TUCSON, AZ - The Aggies scored a run in game one and two in game two, but it was not enough as the NM State softball team dropped both games of the double header against No. 17 Arizona on Wednesday night at Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium. The Aggies fell 6-1 in game one and 10-2 in game two.

Game One

The Aggies (23-18) scored one run and had one RBI on six hits. Haley Nakamura went 2-for-3 and had one RBI. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 3.0 innings and had four strikeouts in 14 batters faced.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The NM State softball team completed the series sweep of Seattle U as they captured a 2-0 win and a 5-0 victory in games one and two of the double header on Saturday at the NM State Softball Complex. The Aggies shutout the Redhawks on Friday night with a 12-0 win in the series opener.

Game One

The Aggies (23-16, 3-0 WAC) scored two runs and racked up two RBIs on four hits. Victoria Castro went 1-for-2, scored one run and had one RBI. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 7.0 innings where she had seven strikeouts and allowed just three hits in 25 batters faced.

Aggie Softball Routs SeattleU 12-0

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Tatum Reedy hit two home runs in the fourth inning as the NM State softball team defeated Seattle U 12-0 in their conference opener on Friday at the NM State Softball Complex.

The Aggies (21-16, 1-0 WAC) scored 12 runs and amassed 12 RBIs on nine hits. Reedy went 3-for-3 and scored two runs on two RBIs. NM State hit four home runs in the bottom of the fourth as Victoria Castro hit one and Brennalyn Nakamura hit a grand slam in addition to Reedy’s pair. Makayla McAdams pitched 5.0 innings and allowed just three hits in 19 batters faced.

Rachel Rodriguez garnered four stolen bases on the night. The four stolen bases ties the single-game record, which has only been accomplished twice before in program history. On Feb. 27, 1998, Kym Lax stole four bases against Missouri-Kansas City, and Kylie Randall matched that on Feb. 26, 2011 against North Dakota.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Softball Falls To UCF, 2-1

ORLANDO, FL - The NM State softball team concluded an eight-game road swing on Wednesday as they dropped a 2-1 decision to UCF in the final game of the UCF Spring Fling at the UCF Softball Complex.

The Aggies (20-13) scored one run and amassed one RBI on eight hits. They left nine runners on base. Amy Bergeson went 2-for-3 and scored one run. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 5.1 innings and had three strikeouts in 22 batters faced.

UCF (21-10) scored two runs and had two RBIs on five hits. Shelby Turnier pitched 4.0 innings and allowed one run on four hits in 19 batters faced.

After six scoreless innings, the Aggies broke through in the top of the seventh inning and took the lead. Bergeson hit a bunt single and advanced to second as Rodriguez grounded out. Aggie Softball Falls To Purdue, Central Florida

ORLANDO, FL - The NM State softball team fell 3-0 to Purdue and dropped a 3-0 decision to UCF on Tuesday in their first day of the UCF Spring Fling at the UCF Softball Complex.

Game One

The Aggies (20-12) had five hits and left six runners on base against Purdue. Emma Adams went 2-for-3. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 6.1 innings and had six strikeouts in 24 batters faced.

Purdue (14-10) scored three runs and had three RBIs on three hits. Lilly Fecho pitched 7.0 innings and allowed five hits in 27 batters faced.

After two scoreless inning, Purdue took the lead in the top of the third inning. Heather Knight was walked and advanced to second on a ground out. Knight scored as Kristen Hoppman hit a double to right center to give Purdue a 1-0 advantage.  Continue Reading This Post >>
