Aggie Softall Sweeps SeattleU

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The NM State softball team completed the series sweep of Seattle U as they captured a 2-0 win and a 5-0 victory in games one and two of the double header on Saturday at the NM State Softball Complex. The Aggies shutout the Redhawks on Friday night with a 12-0 win in the series opener.

Game One

The Aggies (23-16, 3-0 WAC) scored two runs and racked up two RBIs on four hits. Victoria Castro went 1-for-2, scored one run and had one RBI. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 7.0 innings where she had seven strikeouts and allowed just three hits in 25 batters faced.

Seattle U (14-22, 0-3 WAC) had three hits. Andie Larkins pitched 6.0 innings and had three strikeouts in 23 batters faced.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Softball Routs SeattleU 12-0

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Tatum Reedy hit two home runs in the fourth inning as the NM State softball team defeated Seattle U 12-0 in their conference opener on Friday at the NM State Softball Complex.

The Aggies (21-16, 1-0 WAC) scored 12 runs and amassed 12 RBIs on nine hits. Reedy went 3-for-3 and scored two runs on two RBIs. NM State hit four home runs in the bottom of the fourth as Victoria Castro hit one and Brennalyn Nakamura hit a grand slam in addition to Reedy’s pair. Makayla McAdams pitched 5.0 innings and allowed just three hits in 19 batters faced.

Rachel Rodriguez garnered four stolen bases on the night. The four stolen bases ties the single-game record, which has only been accomplished twice before in program history. On Feb. 27, 1998, Kym Lax stole four bases against Missouri-Kansas City, and Kylie Randall matched that on Feb. 26, 2011 against North Dakota.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Softball Falls To UCF, 2-1

ORLANDO, FL - The NM State softball team concluded an eight-game road swing on Wednesday as they dropped a 2-1 decision to UCF in the final game of the UCF Spring Fling at the UCF Softball Complex.

The Aggies (20-13) scored one run and amassed one RBI on eight hits. They left nine runners on base. Amy Bergeson went 2-for-3 and scored one run. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 5.1 innings and had three strikeouts in 22 batters faced.

UCF (21-10) scored two runs and had two RBIs on five hits. Shelby Turnier pitched 4.0 innings and allowed one run on four hits in 19 batters faced.

After six scoreless innings, the Aggies broke through in the top of the seventh inning and took the lead. Bergeson hit a bunt single and advanced to second as Rodriguez grounded out. Aggie Softball Falls To Purdue, Central Florida

ORLANDO, FL - The NM State softball team fell 3-0 to Purdue and dropped a 3-0 decision to UCF on Tuesday in their first day of the UCF Spring Fling at the UCF Softball Complex.

Game One

The Aggies (20-12) had five hits and left six runners on base against Purdue. Emma Adams went 2-for-3. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 6.1 innings and had six strikeouts in 24 batters faced.

Purdue (14-10) scored three runs and had three RBIs on three hits. Lilly Fecho pitched 7.0 innings and allowed five hits in 27 batters faced.

After two scoreless inning, Purdue took the lead in the top of the third inning. Heather Knight was walked and advanced to second on a ground out. Knight scored as Kristen Hoppman hit a double to right center to give Purdue a 1-0 advantage.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Softball Run-Rules Rival Lobos 11-3

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Fiana Finau hit a home run, a double and a single to lead the NM State softball team to an 11-3 victory over Rio Grande rival New Mexico on Tuesday night at the NM State Softball Complex.

The Aggies (17-8) scored 11 runs and collected nine RBIs on 14 hits. Finau was 3-for-3, scored two runs and had four RBIs. Makayla McAdams pitched 3.1 innings and faced 17 batters.

New Mexico (11-8) scored three runs and had two RBIs on six hits. Colette Robert pitched 2.1 innings and allowed seven runs on 10 hits in 18 batters faced.

New Mexico scored in the top of the first inning. Cheyenne Smith hit a single to left field and scored as Mariah Rimmer doubled down the left field line to give the Lobos a 1-0 advantage.  Continue Reading This Post >>

New Mexico State fell to No. 7 Oregon 8-0 via run rule at the UNLV Classic.

LAS VEGAS, NV - The NM State softball team fell 8-0 to No. 7 Oregon in their final game of the UNLV Classic on Sunday at Eller Media Stadium.

The Aggies (16-8) amassed four hits as Rachel Rodriguez, Kelsey Horton, Corrin Green and Victoria Castro each had one hit. Karysta Donnisthorpe pitched 2.0 innings and had one strikeout in 11 batters faced.

Aggie Softball Defeats Drake 3-1

LAS VEGAS, NV - Kelsey Horton hit a go-ahead home run to lift the Aggies to victory as the NM State softball team topped Drake 3-1 on Friday afternoon in their second game of the UNLV Classic at Eller Media Stadium.

With the score knotted at 1-1 in the fifth inning, Horton hit a solo home run over left center to give the Aggies (15-6) the lead. Horton leads the team with eight home runs this season.

The Aggies scored three runs and amassed two RBIs on nine hits. Rachel Rodriguez and Kelsey Horton both had two hits. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 7.0 innings and allowed just four hits and one run in 25 batters faced.

Aggie Softball Run Rules Southern Utah 13-3

LAS VEGAS, NV - The NM State softball team used a big fifth inning to take the lead and never looked back as they defeated Southern Utah 13-3 on Friday at Eller Media Stadium in the UNLV Classic.

The Aggies (14-6) scored 13 runs and garnered 11 RBIs on 15 hits. Rachel Rodriguez led the team with three runs and two RBIs on four hits. Kayla Green pitched 3.0 innings and allowed just two hits while holding the Thunderbirds (3-16) scoreless.

Aggie Softball Drops Pair Of Games At Mary Nutter Classic

GAME ONE

CATHEDRAL CITY, CA - Despite tying the game in the fourth inning, the NM State softball team fell 2-1 to Boise State on Friday in the Mary Nutter Classic at Big League Dreams Sports Park.

The Aggies (10-3) scored one run and had one RBI on six hits. Brennalyn Nakamura had a team-high two hits, while Corrin Green amassed her ninth RBI of the season. Makayla McAdams pitched 6.0 innings and had three strikeouts in 25 batters faced.

Boise State (2-11) scored two runs on seven hits. Shawna Burke pitched 7.0 innings and allowed six hits and one run in 28 batters faced.

Boise State scored first in the bottom of the second inning. With Morgan Lamb on third, Rebekah Cervantes hit a single to left field to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.  Continue Reading This Post >>
