Written By: NM State Athletic Dept.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State football team has accepted an invitation to the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl to take on a familiar bowl opponent in Utah State on Dec. 29 at 3:30 p.m. MT in Tucson, Ariz. at Arizona Stadium on the CBS Sports Network. Following the bowl invitation head football coach Doug Martin said, “Getting to a bowl game is the way our senior class should go out. They are a remarkable group and have changed the culture here at New Mexico State. This bowl shows that we can do great things here and the best days are ahead.”

The Aggies last postseason appearance saw an undefeated NM State team take down Utah State, 20-13, in the 1960 Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. Since that time, the Aggies have only had nine winning seasons.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Written By: NM State Athletic Dept.

NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Sun Belt Conference announced the players of the week on Monday morning. After a career night on the road versus Sun Belt foe Texas State, New Mexico State defensive end Cedric Wilcots II earned the defensive player of the week nod.

Wilcots was all over the field on Saturday posting five tackles, including a career-high three sacks. The sack total had not been recorded by an Aggie since Aubrey Dorisme had three against Middle Tennessee on Oct. 11, 2003.

The sophomore also tallied three forced fumbles, the first three of his career. This disruptive play helped give the Aggies the edge in the turnover margin against the Bobcats.

This is Wilcots’ first Sun Belt Player of the Week honor and the fourth this season for an Aggie with quarterback Tyler Rogers and defensive back Ron LaForce earning the honor on Sept. 11 and Shamad Lomax receiving the distinction on Sept. 25.  Continue Reading This Post >>
