NMSU Football To Play At UCLA In 2020

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State and UCLA have signed a deal that’ll see the Aggies take on the UCLA Bruins at the Rose Bowl on zero week in 2020 Director of Athletics Mario Moccia announced Thursday.

“Playing on zero week is great for exposure and motivates players all summer,” head football coach Doug Martin said. “We look forward to playing against a historic program like UCLA.”

This will be the second meeting between the Aggies and Bruins all-time. The two programs met on the gridiron back in 2013 in Martin’s first year at the helm in Pasadena, Calif., with NM State falling to UCLA.

The 2017 NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl Champion New Mexico State Aggies gear up for the 2018 campaign as it entertains the Wyoming Cowboys at 8 p.m. (MT) on Saturday, Aug. 25, in a nationally televised game on ESPN2.

NMSU Football Signs Home And Home With Central Michigan For 2019 And 2026

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State football team and Central Michigan University have signed a home-and-home contract to square off in 2019 and 2026, Director of Athletics Mario Moccia announced on Friday.

“I have a lot of experience playing in the MAC while at Kent State and know that Central Michigan has a tremendous program with great tradition,” said NM State head football coach Doug Martin. “They have always been a really good program that will make for a great home-and-home matchup.”

The first meeting in history between the Aggies and Chippewas is scheduled for Oct. 12, 2019 at Kelly Shorts Stadium. The Crimson & White then play host to CMU on Sept. 5, 2026 at Aggie Memorial Stadium.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Football Secures Postseason Deal With NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl

TUCSON, AZ - New Mexico State Director of Athletics Mario Moccia announced an agreement with the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl that will secure NM State football's postseason future leading into Independent status.

"New Mexico State University and our football program are excited to enter into a bowl agreement with the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl for 2018 and 2019," said Moccia. "Every aspect of our experience last year was nothing short of phenomenal. With the proximity to Las Cruces, date of the game, weather of Tucson and the amount of alumni we have in Arizona makes this a perfect opportunity for our team as well as Aggie Nation. “What Doug Martin, his staff and our players accomplished last year has not been seen in a generation,” Moccia said. “The program he inherited has undergone a significant transformation. Academically, socially and competitively he has made vast strides in all three areas. This past season, the amount of national attention on the football program, our athletic department and our University was unparalleled. Jamin Smith Named To Weurffel Trophy Watch List

FORT WALTON BEACH, FL - The 2018 Wuerffel Trophy announced its watch list today of 106 players from college football's Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) on Thursday. New Mexico State football offensive lineman Jamin Smith earned a nod for the watch list.

The Wuerffel Trophy, known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is presented annually at the All Sports Association’s Awards Banquet in Fort Walton Beach. Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy is awarded to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.  Continue Reading This Post >>
