Two Aggies Named To Pro Football Focus All-Independent Team

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - NM State has placed two student-athletes on Pro Football Focus' year-end All-Independent Team.

Seniors Jason Huntley and OJ Clark earned spots on the offensive squad. Huntley received recognition as a running back, while Clark picked up All-Independent honors as a punt returner.

Huntley was the only FBS Independent tailback to rush for 1,000 yards this season. The Arlington, Texas, native ran for 1,090 yards and nine touchdowns in his senior campaign, running for 100 or more yards in five games during 2019.

He became one of 12 Aggie running backs since 1954 to run for 1,000 or more yards in a season.

Clark, meanwhile, led the Aggies in punt returns with 14 for 146 yards (10.43 avg.). He returned six punts for 96 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown, in the win over UIW.

NMSU Football Extends Series With Louisiana

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - NM State and Louisiana have agreed to extend their home-and-home series with additional games scheduled for 2023 and 2024, Director of Athletics Mario Moccia announced Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The Aggies will visit Louisiana on Oct. 14, 2023, before playing host to the Ragin’ Cajuns at Aggie Memorial Stadium on Oct. 26, 2024.

NM State is 5-8-0 all-time against Louisiana. The two teams most recently clashed in 2018, when the Aggies traveled to Lafayette, La.

The current home-and-home series continues next season, as Louisiana makes the trip to Las Cruces, N.M. The game is set for Oct. 24, 2020.

NMSU Football Signs Six Year Deal With New Mexico Bowl

Huntley Named To 2019 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List

TYLER, TEXAS - New Mexico State football senior running back Jason Huntley continues to rack up preseason accolades.

Huntley was named to the watch list for the 2019 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, which recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football from the state of Texas, Tuesday. The list was announced at the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler 14th Annual East Texas Kick-off Luncheon.

It is the second preseason watch list that Huntley has appeared in. The 2018 Phil Steele fourth-team All-American was previously named to the 2019 Paul Hornung Award Watch List, which is given annually to the most versatile player in college football.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Football Adds Home And Home Series With UAB

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State football team and the UAB have signed a home-and-home series for the 2020 and 2025 seasons Director of Athletics Mario Moccia announced.

The first meeting between the Aggies and Blazers is scheduled for Sept. 3, 2020, at Legion Field. UAB then makes the return trip to Aggie Memorial Stadium in 2025 for a Sept. 6 battle. NM State and UAB’s meeting in 2020 will be the first time both programs take the field against one another.

New Mexico State is set to open its 2019 schedule with a pair of road contests. The Aggies kick-off the 2019 season in Pullman, Wash., against Washington State (Aug. 31) followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sept. 7.

Terrill Hanks Signs As Undrafted Free Agent With Miami Dolphins

MIAMI, FL - New Mexico State football linebacker Terrill Hanks signed as an undrafted free agent on Saturday, April 27, and will join his hometown team, the Miami Dolphins.

“This is a proud day for NM State Football as we celebrate with Terrill signing with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent,” Aggie head coach Doug Martin said. “Terrill has worked hard to get to this moment and we are all excited for him and grateful he chose New Mexico State to be the program to show his talent to the football world. He has all the work ethic and talent to be a star in the NFL!”

NMSU And Akron Schedule Football Series For 2020 And 2022

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State football team and the Akron have signed a home-and-home series for the 2020 and 2022 seasons Director of Athletics Mario Moccia announced.

The first meeting between the Aggies and Zips is scheduled for Sept. 12, 2020, at Aggie Memorial Stadium. NM State then makes the return trip to InfoCision Stadium in 2022 for an Oct. 1 battle.

New Mexico State trails the all-time series 1-0 with the only lone meeting occurring in 1988 in favor of Akron.

New Mexico State is set to open its 2019 schedule with a pair of road contests. The Aggies kick-off the 2019 season in Pullman, Wash., against Washington State followed by the defending National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide on Sept. 7.
