Rose III, Theisler And Wright Earn Preseason All-Sun Belt Honors

NEW ORLEANS, LA - New Mexico State Football's Larry Rose III, Payton Theisler and Jaden Wright were named to the Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference Teams on Friday in anticipation of media day next week.

"We are expecting great things from these young men and also think several others will make a name for themselves," Aggie head football coach Doug Martin said. "This is proof again of how well our staff has recruited and how far the program has come."

This is the second-straight year Rose III has been named preseason all-conference first-team.
Theisler earned preseason first-team honors for special teams while Wright was named a preseason all-conference second-team honoree on defense. It was the first time for both Theisler and Wright.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Football Picked 10th By Sun Belt Coaches In 2017 Preseason Poll

NEW ORLEANS, LA - The New Mexico State football team was selected to finish 10th in the 2017 Sun Belt Preseason Poll that was released Thursday afternoon.

The preseason poll was voted on by each member institution’s head coach, which saw NM State tally 41 points – including one first-place vote. The 41 points have the Aggies ahead of Texas State (31 points) and incoming member Coastal Carolina (26 points).

Appalachian State (136 points) was picked to win the league by nine points over Troy (127) thanks to seven first-place votes while the Trojans collected two. Arkansas State, who tied for the league title last year with App State, was predicted to finish in third with 122 points and a first-place vote followed by South Alabama (98 points).  Continue Reading This Post >>

Jaden Wright Named To 2017 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List

DALLAS, TX - New Mexico State football’s defensive back Jaden Wright was named to the 2017 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List on Thursday the Football Writers Association of America and Charlotte Touchdown Club announced.

Wright, who saw action in all 12 games in 2016, finished last season fifth on the team with 81 tackles (32 solo) and a team-high four forced fumbles to go with his one fumble recovery. The 6-0 defensive back also led the team with five interceptions and recorded 2.5 tackles for loss.

The Lewisville, Texas, native registered 10 tackles on the road at Kentucky and then posted a season-high 15 tackles at home against Appalachian State. His interception against Louisiana saw him run the back for 45 yards.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Football Set To Take On Ole Miss In 2019

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State football and the Ole Miss Rebels are set to meet on the gridiron in Oxford, Miss. on November 9, 2019. This is the second time the Aggies and Rebels have squared off with the first meeting coming on Oct. 10, 2015 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

After inking the deal with Ole Miss, NM State Athletic Director Mario Moccia said, “I’m very excited for our student-athletes to have the opportunity to travel back to Oxford and take on a top-flight program in Ole Miss. We were able to land a great deal against a program with such a unique atmosphere. We are fortunate for not only our student-athletes but all of our supporters who can make the trip with us down to the Grove for what promises to be a great contest.”  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Football Great Chase Holbrook To Return To NMSU As Assistant Coach

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State football fans will have a pair of familiar faces on the sidelines this upcoming season as head football coach Doug Martin announced the additions of former Aggie standout QB Chase Holbrook and former graduate assistant Kai Brown.

Holbrook, who played for NM State from 2005-08, returns to his alma mater as the tight ends coach after spending the 2016 season working under Mike Leach at Washington State as a quality controls coach. Prior to his time in Pullman, Holbrook served as the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Tarleton State. Other stops for the Hurst, Texas, native included New Mexico State Highlands (2014) and McMurry (2009-13).

During his time in Las Cruces, Holbrook rewrote the Aggie history books and still owns the single-season and career record in passing, passing attempts, completions, touchdowns, total offense and total touchdowns.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Football Adds 25 In 2017 Signing Class

NMSU Football Adds Home-And-Home Series With Louisiana For 2018 And 2019

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The schedule for New Mexico State football in 2018 continues to fill itself out with the announcement of a home-and-home series with Louisiana Wednesday afternoon.

The Aggies will first travel to Lafayette, La., on Sept. 8, 2018 or Oct. 6 before the Ragin’ Cajuns make the return trip the following year to Aggie Memorial Stadium on Nov. 16, 2019.

NM State trails the all-time series 6-5 now after capturing its second-consecutive win over Louisiana at home this season, 37-31. The Aggies are 2-5 all-time at Cajun Field and 3-1 when playing at Aggie Memorial Stadium.  Continue Reading This Post >>

NMSU Football To Play Home-And-Home Series With Wyoming

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The future schedule of New Mexico State football begins to take shape with the announcement of a home-and-home series with the University of Wyoming, beginning in 2018 at home to open its season on Aug. 25 as an independent FBS team during zero week.

The Aggies will then travel to Laramie, Wyo., on Sept. 21, 2024, for its return trip against the Cowboys.

The 2018 meeting between New Mexico State and Wyoming will just be the second time the two programs have faced off against one another on the gridiron. The only meeting between the Aggies and Cowboys came in 1953, which was in favor of Wyoming 47-0.  Continue Reading This Post >>
