12 Aggies Named To Phil Steele's Preseason All-WAC Team

CLEVELAND, OH - The New Mexico State football team landed 12 players on the Phil Steele’s 2011 Preseason All-WAC Team as announced by Phil Steele, Tuesday afternoon. The Aggies had five offensive players including three offensive linemen on the list, while the defense grabbed five awards as well. Special teams were not overlooked as two Aggies were recognized.

Senior Sioeli Fakalata was named a first team selection at center and was the only Aggie to be named to the first team for either offense or defense. Offensive tackle Aundre McGaskey earned second team honors, while running back Kenny Turner garnered the third team running back slot. Wide receiver Taveon Rogers was named a fourth team selection and offensive tackle Davonte Wallace was the third offensive lineman to be honored.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Davon House Drafted By Green Bay In 4th Round

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Former New Mexico State defensive back Davon House was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round as the 131st pick overall of the 2011 NFL Draft. House, a native of Palmdale, Calif., becomes the first Aggie football player to be drafted since 2003, when Siddeeq Shabazz was drafted to the Oakland Raiders with the last pick of the draft.
 
House becomes the highest draft pick for the Aggies since 1989, when Joe Campbell was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the fourth round as well.

Spring Game Set For April 30th At 1PM

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The NM State Spring Football Game, sponsored by Wells Fargo, will be held on April 30 at 1PM at Aggie Memorial Stadium. The event is free to the public and each fan in attendance will receive a free copy of the 2011 football poster.

The Wells Fargo Spring Football Game is the final spring practice for the Aggies before they resume a regular practice schedule in the fall. Fans are encouraged to come to the game earlier, as kids can play in the jump castles one hour prior to the event.

After the scrimmage, players and coaches will be available on the field for autographs on the recently released 2011 NM State football poster. Concession stands will be open and the Barnes & Noble NMSU Bookstore will be hand with great deals on NM State merchandise outside the northwest gate.  Continue Reading This Post >>

Walker Adds Defensive Tackle To Signing Class

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State head football coach DeWayne Walker announced Wednesday that defensive tackle Walton Taumoepeau has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for the Aggies beginning in the 2011 season. Taumoepeau, a 6-3, 300 pound defensive lineman played two seasons at Cerritos College in California.

“I really liked Taumoepeau’s size at 6-3, 300 pounds,” Walker said. “He is very explosive off the ball. In our conference you play against teams that can run the ball and have good offensive lineman so we wanted to get a little more depth at our tackle position. I feel that Taumoepeau can come in and compete for a starting spot.”  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggies Announce 2011 Football Schedule

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State head football coach DeWayne Walker announced the Aggies' 2011 schedule Monday, March 21. In 2011, the Aggies face six bowl teams from the 2010 season, as well as the two rivalry games, an SEC powerhouse and a Big Ten opponent.
