Gillenwater Declares For NBA Draft, Will Not Hire Agent

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State junior forward Troy Gillenwater has declared for the NBA draft. He led the Aggies in both scoring and rebounding with 18.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

“After several lengthy and in-depth conversations between Troy and myself, we have reached the decision to enter Troy’s name into the 2011 NBA draft at this time without signing with an agent,” head coach Marvin Menzies said. “We will assess the situation as it unfolds in the way of interest and opportunity and make a final decision when the time is right regarding his future. Troy Gillenwater Earns NABC All-District Honors

LAS VEGAS, NV - New Mexico State junior forward Troy Gillenwater was named to the first team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District Six Team, the organization announced.

He leads the Aggies with a team-high 19.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. This is Gillenwater first career all-district honor, and the fifth consecutive season an Aggie has garnered the award.

Gillenwater guides the Aggies into the 2011 WAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed. NM State has a first round bye and plays the winner of the No. 6 seed Nevada-No. 7 seed Fresno State game, Thursday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m. (MT) on ESPNU.

Troy Gillenwater Named First Team All-WAC

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State junior forward Troy Gillenwater garnered first team All-WAC honors as voted on by the nine league coaches. This is Gillenwater’s first career All-WAC selection. This is the fifth consecutive season the Aggies have had a first team all-conference honoree.  
 
Gillenwater leads the Aggies with 19.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. In conference games, he averaged 20.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He has 12 games over 20 points this year and 15 in his career.
 
“I’m very happy for Troy,” head coach Marvin Menzies said. “He earned first team honors for his consistent play. His ability to score night in and night out helped us finish in the upper echelon of the conference”
