LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State men’s basketball head coach Marvin Menzies has hired Tom Lewis as the team’s new coordinator of player development. Lewis joins the Aggies with a wealth of experience at the professional, college and high school levels.
"Adding Tom Lewis was a huge coup for us," Menzies said. "Tom brings an extensive breadth of knowledge to the program. He has worked with training NBA players such as Tyson Chandler. We’re very pleased and appreciative that Tom was wanted to come back to the college level with the Aggies."
In the 2009-10 season, Lewis was an assistant coach for the Cal State Los Angeles men’s basketball team. He spent the previous five years, from 2003-08, as the head boy’s basketball coach at JSerra High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., following a stint as a women’s assistant coach at Rutgers in 2002-03.
