The Aggies will face Pacific in the 2010 Bracketbusters matchup. The game will be televised on ESPNU at 8:00 p.m. MT. The Tigers are 14-6 overall and 7-1 in the Big West. The Tigers and Aggies share five common opponents with the Tigers holding a 3-2 record against the five opponents while the Aggies hold a 2-3 record against the same five opponents.

The Aggies and Tigers both defeated Pepperdine on the road, the Tigers beat Nevada while the Aggies lost to Nevada at home, both teams defeated Fresno State with the Aggies winning at home while Pacific won in Fresno. Both teams lost handily at the hands of Saint Mary's (CA) and both teams lost to San Jose State in San Jose.

The Aggies and Pacific have met 37 times with the Aggies holding a 29-8 advantage. The Aggies are 10-6 in Stockton and the two teams faced each other in the Bracketbusters in the 2005/2006 season as the Aggies defeated Pacific 79-69 in overtime. The following season the Aggies opened up at home against Pacific winning a tight game 76-74.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State sophomore center Hamidu Rahman has been named the Verizon Wireless WAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 25-31. The honor marks the first career WAC Player of the Week award for Rahman.

Rahman led New Mexico State to a 91-77 road victory at Louisiana Tech, handing the Bulldogs their first home loss of the season, Jan. 30. Rahman tied his career high with 22 points in the win. Rahman shot a career-best with 10 made field goals and 15 attempts, and was a perfect 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. He also pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds with one block. LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Junior forward Wendell McKines is set to return to the New Mexico State men’s basketball team for the remainder of the 2009-10 season. He will make his first appearance against Alcorn State, Monday, Dec. 21.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State will distribute a combined 17 men’s and women’s basketball games in the 2009-10 basketball season through its AggieVision production group. In addition, four NM State men’s basketball games will be televised nationally on the ESPN family of networks.

Seven women’s basketball games will be part of the AggieVision schedule, including non-conference games against Kansas, UTEP, and UNM. In addition, AggieVision will also produce and distribute four conference games.

The preseason coaches and media polls for the 2009-2010 WAC basketball season were released today and the men's team under third year head coach Marvin Menzies was picked to finish third by both the coaches and media. The Aggies received six first place votes from the media. Junior guard Jahmar Young was named to the Preseason First Team All-WAC team by both the media and the coaches.

On the women's side the Aggies, under the direction of Darin Spence who enters his seventh season as head coach, the Aggies were picked ot finish sixth by the coaches and sixth by the media. The Aggies placed two players on the preseason All-WAC teams as Madison Spence was picked First Team All-WAC by both the media and the coaches while University of Texas transfer Crystal Boyd was chosen Second Team All-WAC by the media.

The men's team kicks off the season with an exhibition against Western New Mexico on Monday, November 2 and then opens regular season play at St. Mary's on Friday, November 13 while the women's team kicks off the season on the road at Cal State-Northridge on Friday, November 13.  Continue Reading This Post >>

The WAC has released the 2009/2010 ESPN television schedule for men's basketball and the Aggies will have three games televised by ESPNU. The Aggies will open the WAC season and the New Year at home against Utah State (January 2nd) and Nevada (January 4th). Both games will be televised on ESPNU. The Aggies will travel to Moscow January 11th to take on the Vandals and that game will also be televised on ESPNU. The Aggies return game against Idaho at the Pan American Center will be televised on ESPN2.

In addition several Aggie home games will be televised on AggieVision. The Aggies will also be the road team for this season's ESPN BracketBusters Challenge. A total of 98 mid-major teams will do inter-conference battle and 11 of those games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks.

The 2009/2010 Aggie men's basketball team was picked to win the league by the Blue Ribbon Yearbook in their annual preview. The Aggies return nearly everyone from last year's team that finished 17-15 and advanced to the WAC semifinals before losing to eventual WAC tournament champion Utah State.

Junior guard Jahmar Young was named to the Blue Ribbon Yearbook Preseason All-WAC team along with Nevada's Luke Babbit, Idaho's Mac Hopson, San Jose State's Adrian Oliver and Hawaii's Roderick Flemings.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - With a trip to one of the most storied programs in college basketball and 15 regular season games in the Pan American Center, the New Mexico State men’s basketball team is set for an exciting season in 2009-10. Third-year head coach Marvin Menzies announced the schedule, Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Currently, the Aggies have a nationally televised game on ESPN2 scheduled when WAC foe Idaho travels to Las Cruces (Feb. 24).

“I’m happy with the schedule,” Menzies said. “With the guys that we’re lacing them up with, we put ourselves in a good situation to be successful. LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State men’s basketball head coach Marvin Menzies has signed Da’shawn Gomez to a National Letter of Intent, Thursday, May 14. Gomez is a 6-1 guard from Inglewood, Calif.

"Getting a kid like Da'shawn Gomez, out of Southern California, is a big feather in our cap," Menzies said. "That is an area we have concentrated recruiting efforts, and he is highly respected in that area. We look for Da’shawn to come in and compete for minutes at the point guard and two guard positions."

As a senior, Gomez was named a first team All-California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Division IV-AA honoree after leading Inglewood High School to a 24-7 record and the CIF-SS Division IV-AA title game.
