Lauren Reifel Earns Second WAC Diver Of The Week Honor

DENVER, CO - New Mexico State’s Lauren Reifel has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Diver of the Week for December 29 - January 4.

Reifel, a junior from Fortville, Ind. (Mt. Vernon HS) earned runner up honors in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives Friday afternoon against Pac-12 No. 14 Arizona in a frigid dual meet. Dorottya Lennert Named WAC Swimmer Of The Week For Second Consecutive Week

DENVER,CO - New Mexico State’s Dorottya Lennert has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week for December 15-21.

Lennert, a junior from Budapest, Hungary (CSIK Ferenc HS) dominated the final day of the UNLV Winter Invitational early this week. After winning the 200 IM and taking second in the 100 butterfly, Lennert took home a second victory in the 200 butterfly on Monday. With a personal best time in prelims at 2:00.34, Lennert won the finals heat with a time of 2:00.51. Dorottya Lennert Named WAC Swimmer Of The Week

DENVER, CO - New Mexico State’s Dorottya Lennert has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week for December 8-14.

Lennert, a junior from Budapest, Hungary (CSIK Ferenc HS) swam exceptionally well at the UNLV Winter Invitational this weekend. On Saturday she won the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.16 which is now the fastest time in the WAC this season. In Sundays prelims of the 100 fly Lennert posted a school record and personal best time of 53.96 to lead the women’s event in the finals. She closed out the 100 fly just 1.1 second shy of first place with a time of 53.99. Her time of 53.96 is the fastest 100 fly time in the WAC this season.

DENVER, CO - New Mexico State’s Lauren Reifel have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Diver of the Week for October 6-12.

Lauren Reifel, a junior from Fortville, Ind. (Mt. Vernon HS) won both springboard events in the dual meet against Grand Canyon. Reifel scored 252.23 points on the 1-meter and 252.30 points on the 3-meter to post the top scores in the WAC this season.

Terrin Seaver Named WAC Swimmer Of The Week

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State swimmer Terrin Seaver has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week for the week of Dec. 2-8, the conference announced Tuesday.

Seaver, a senior from Lake Geneva, Wis. (Elkhorn HS), swept both backstroke events during New Mexico State’s dual meet with Northern Arizona on Saturday. She won the 100 back with a time of 57.19 and the 200 back with a time of 2:03.75. Though the times were not season-bests for Seaver, both are in the WAC’s top-10 for the year. She also swam the leadoff leg of the Aggies’ winning 200 medley relay team (1:47.25).

Audrey Ruiz Named WAC Diver Of The Week

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State’s Audrey Ruiz has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Diver of the Week, respectively, for October 28-November 3.

Ruiz, a sophomore from Lubbock, Texas (Coronado HS), swept both diving events in a 170-128 dual meet victory over Northern Colorado on Saturday. Ruiz won the 3-meter board with a career-high score of 253.87. She won the 1-meter with a score of 264.37. Both scores are the fifth best in the WAC this season.

The Aggies will be back in the pool on Nov. 20-23 at the Houston Invitational in Houston, Texas.

Pratt Adds Diving Coach

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State swimming and diving head coach Rick Pratt announced the hiring of assistant coach Kyle Bogner to the team as the new diving coach on Monday.

“Bogner brings a great level of enthusiasm and passion for diving to our program,” Pratt said. “He has competed at a high level himself and has the knowledge and energy to take our program to the next level. His experience at the college and club level has provided him a strong background to be an amazing diving coach for us here at NM State. Jessica Legge Earns WAC Swimmer Of The Week Honor

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State sophomore swimmer Jessica Legge has been named the WAC Swimmer of the Week, for Jan. 14-20.

Legge won three individual events at Idaho, Jan. 18. She won both the 100 breaststroke (1:03.78) and 200 breaststroke (2:18.71) en route to breaking Idaho's pool records in the events. Legge also captured top honors in the 200 IM (2:07.83).

"Jess has had a really great couple months of training, and I am very excited about her swimming," head coach Rick Pratt said. "She had some impressive swims after long travel to Moscow, and it's nice to see her recognized with all the fast swims happening in our league."

The Aggies host in-state rival New Mexico in the regular season finale, Feb. 2, in Las Cruces.

Dixon Joins Aggie Swimming And Diving Staff

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State swimming and diving head coach Rick Pratt has added Cassandra Dixon to his staff. The Las Cruces native returns as an assistant coach.

"I am very excited for Cassie to join our staff," Pratt said. "She has tremendous energy and confidence and is going to make an amazing college coach. Her personality will help us a lot in recruiting, and her passion for swimming and being a mentor to our student-athletes was very evident in the hiring process. Even though coach Dixon moved away to swim in college, she has always been an Aggie at heart, and she loves Las Cruces. Aggie Swimming and Diving Honored For Academic Success

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State swimming and diving team continues to excel both in the pool and in the classroom under head coach Rick Pratt.

For the seventh consecutive year, the Aggies have a place on the Division I Team Scholar All-America Spring 2012 list, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced. NM State posted a team grade point average of 3.52 for the spring 2012 semester and tied for 10th in the team standings.

This marks the third time the Aggies have landed in the top 10. Previously, NM State ranked second following fall of 2006 (3.566) and ninth after fall of 2009 (3.44). In Pratt's seven years in Las Cruces, the Aggies haven't had a team G.P.A. lower than 3.2.  Continue Reading This Post >>
